Lawmakers fear Sen. Rand Paul’s version of a key cyber threat sharing
bill reauthorization could undermine the original CISA 2015 law
An effort by Senate Homeland Security Chair Rand Paul (R-Ky.) to push through his version of a bill to reauthorize a foundational cyber threat sharing law has been met by
resistance, as the countdown to its expiration draws near.
The 2015 Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act, commonly known as CISA 2015, facilitates much of the cyber threat sharing between the private sector and the federal
government. The law — which has broad support from the private sector and the Trump administration — is set to expire on Sept. 30 unless Congress can agree on legislation for its reauthorization.
