Year In Review
In 2024, ransomware and other cyber incidents made news headlines around the globe and across numerous sectors. These events affected millions of people and cost trillions of dollars. Several large ransomware attacks hit organizations in Asia, EMEA, and the Americas. We also witnessed several supply chain incidents, such as Crowdstrike and Hurricane Helene, that illustrated the single points of failure that exist in daily operations. The escalation of violence in the health workplace, as well as the targeting of CEOs, has risen to record levels. Geopolitical tensions, global regulations, and pressure on CISOs have kept the industry on its toes.
At Health-ISAC, we have risen to meet the challenges and have seen several accomplishments over the past twelve months. Within minutes, members from countries all over the world began collaborating, sharing, and helping each other as incidents unfolded. The Threat Operations Center (TOC) sent out hundreds of targeted alerts, threat intelligence bulletins, and tens of thousands of observables and published over a dozen white papers, including the CTI in a Box Guidance series and our Annual Threat Landscape Report. The TOC also hosted member visits. Health-ISAC conducted custom exercises for members, carried out a regional Active Shooter exercise series, held the annual Hobby exercises in the Americas and Europe, and participated in other large-scale exercises with global partners. We expanded our member monthly threat brief to include a European edition and added European and Western Pacific Chapters to the Medical Device Security Council (MDSC). We also hired a dedicated medical device security analyst from our intern program.
On the education front, we held five summits, including the inaugural CISO Summit, with over 1,300 attendees from almost 800 organizations worldwide. 2024 also saw the addition of a physical track at the Fall Americas Summit and a workshop focused on Physical threats. We conducted regional workshops, webinars, and groundbreaking events such as the Breaking the Barriers in Information Sharing initiative to educate the legal profession on the importance of sharing. We stood up several new working groups, including the new CISO Council.
Health-ISAC had a record year for adding new members to our community and launched a brand new website. These are just some of the activities we achieved over the year. Be sure to look out for the Annual Report, which will cover more specifics.

Fall Americas Summit Recap
Sharing for the good of all was abundant last month in Phoenix, where security leaders came together to address pressing security challenges for health sector organizations. Attendees chose from several diverse sessions and enjoyed a phenomenal private event at the Heard Museum. Pictured below are the CTI Training participants, attendees, and the CISO panelists.
Attendee Feedback:
